Beginning Piano Course (Online)

This is a 10-week online course for nonspeaking and speaking students who use RPM. In this course, students will bridge motor, auditory, and visual tracking skills and learn to play the piano using all ten fingers. Communication partners will be coached on best practices for developing motor skills and fading out hand support.

The course is designed for students age 10 and up. Any level of motor skills is welcome, but students must be able to navigate a full letter board to get the most out of the course.

In addition to playing by sight, this course will include ear training, music theory, and basic composition skills.

Do I have to know how to read notes to take this course? No. This course will teach the prerequisite skills necessary to read notes. Just like open-ended communication in RPM, playing by note-reading is a complex motor skill and will be achieved at different speeds depending on baseline motor skills and frequency of practice.

The Milestone Method books 1, 2, and 3. PDFs will be provided by the instructor on the first day of class.
